Still showing pre-roll ads on Twitch? Here’s why you should disable them, and how to do it.
What are pre-roll ads?
Pre-roll ads are a type of ad that will play before the main video – or in this case, before you can start watching a live stream. These ads serve as a way for advertisers to reach a targeted audience and generate revenue for the creators or platforms hosting the videos. Pre-roll ads come in all shapes and sizes, but are most often short videos.
Why disable your pre-roll ads?
It’s simple. People don’t want to watch ads. They’re super disruptive, can be incredibly annoying and are bad for the viewing experience. So much so, that one in every three viewers will exit a stream with a pre-roll ad to find another stream that doesn’t have them. So by enabling pre-roll ads, you’re losing a third of potential viewers before they even started watching your stream.
How to disable pre-roll ads?
- Head over to your dashboard, go to Settings and then Affiliate.
- Scroll down until you find the Ads Manager and click on it.
- If you set the manager to run a 1 minute 30 ad every 30 minutes, this will completely disable pre-roll ads for your stream.
And that’s it. A simple solution that will hopefully help more viewers stick around.
