The Esports World Cup (EWC) is a premier global gaming event, bringing together top-tier competitors across various popular esports titles. The 2024 edition kicked off with a bang in Riyadh, on the 3rd of July. This year's tournament features intense battles in Dota 2, League of Legends, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Free Fire, with substantial prize pools attracting elite teams from around the world. 

Adding to the excitement, the event has partnered with TikTok to enhance fan engagement through exclusive content, behind-the-scenes access, and interactive features, making the experience more immersive for the global esports community. This collaboration highlights the event's commitment to use social media to connect even more with fans and broaden its reach.

Week 1 Highlights

Week 1 of the EWC set the stage for an epic competition. Players from around the globe showcased their skills in games like ML:BB, DOTA2, League of Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone, and the first round of Free Fire. The atmosphere was electric as fans tuned in via Twitch streams and TikTok highlights to catch every moment of the action.

The standout event was the LoL tournament, where team Top Esports and T1 competed, but it was T1 who came out victorious, and player Faker was awarded the MVP. For the COD final, team Falcons were crowned champions, finishing the stands 20 points ahead of FNATIC, in second place.

Week 2 Highlights

The second weed followed up with the next rounds of the remaining games from the week before. 

The ML:BB tournament went through the week, ending on the 14th with the world champions Falcons AP.Bren versus the Selangor Red Giants, the Malaysian team came out as winners of the Mid-Season Cup 2024.

DOTA2 continued on to the group stage, the playoffs and final scheduled for the following week.

The Free Fire competition started with 18 teams, fighting for a spot in the Free Fire World Series Global Finals 2024, which will happen in Brazil, in November. Teams were competing in the Point Rush stage, which means competing for points, and no one gets eliminated. The 6 teams that scored the highest points already have a spot in the Finals, the remaining 12 will play again.

What to Expect from Week 3

As we move into Week 3, the excitement continues to build with the playoffs of DOTA 2, the rounds of Counter-Strike 2, and the first group stage of PUBG Mobile.

DOTA 2 Playoffs

The DOTA 2 playoffs, starting on the 16th, promise to be a spectacle. Teams like Team Titan, Phoenix Squad, and Dragon Warriors are set to clash in what is expected to be a series of nail-biting matches. The finals on the 21st will determine the champions, with the top three teams receiving impressive rewards: $1,500,000 and 1000 championship points for first place, $800,000 and 600 points for second, and $600,000 and 350 points for third.

Counter-Strike 2 Rounds

Counter-Strike 2 will see its key matches on the 17th, followed by the losers' bracket rounds on the 18th. The finals on the 21st will be a highlight, with the top teams vying for the top prize of $400,000 and 1000 championship points. Second and third places will also be rewarded with $175,000 and $85,000, plus 600 and 275 points respectively.

PUBG Mobile Group Stage

Week 3 marks the beginning of the group stage for PUBG Mobile, setting the stage for the main tournaments in Week 4. Fans can expect some preliminary clashes as teams jostle for a spot in the crucial matches on the 26th, 27th, and 28th.

The EWC has already delivered two weeks of unforgettable gaming moments, and there's much more to come. The next week starts on the 16th of July, and it promises to be just as thrilling. As we look forward to the following weeks, the anticipation for the PUBG Mobile main tournaments and the Overwatch 2 and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Women playoffs continues to grow.
