Here’s how you can make your own animated emotes for free. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of creating animated emotes using the free Emotemaker and then show you how to add these emotes to Twitch, 7TV, and BTTV.


Creating Animated Emotes


Before adding animated emotes to your Twitch channel, you'll need to create them. With EmoteMaker, you can easily create animated emotes from your Twitch clips or by uploading your files. Follow these steps:

Upload Your Clip or File:

You have two options for creating your emote:

Uploading your Emotes to Twitch

  • Sign up for a Twitch account if you haven't already. To upload emotes, you’ll need to be a Twitch Affiliate or Partner.

  • Access your Creator Dashboard, then go to "Viewer Rewards" > "Emotes" in the left-hand menu.
  • Hit "Upload Emote" and select your animated emote file. Ensure it's a PNG and fits the size requirements (28x28, 56x56, and 112x112 pixels).
  • Name your emote and choose an emote set based on your Twitch status (Affiliate or Partner).
  • Once satisfied, submit it for review. Twitch's moderation team will check it for compliance, which might take a few days.
  • Once your emotes are ready, follow the steps to upload them to Twitch, 7TV, or BTTV, and get them live for your viewers to enjoy. Remember, the more interactive and unique your emotes are, the more fun your chat will be!
