Streamer Starter Pack: Everything You Need to Know

As a beginner streamer, you’re going to need three things to get started (plus: one bonus tip).

Webcam

The first thing you’re going to need is: a webcam. This doesn’t need to break the bank – most webcams are already a step up from your laptop’s built-in camera. The Logitech C920, for example, is amazing for its price. But there are lots of other options available in various price ranges. Determine your budget and research which one might be the best suited for your needs.

Key light

The previously mentioned Logitech C920 isn’t the *best* webcam in the world, but with good lighting, it won’t matter as much. Good lighting can significantly impact the performance of your camera or webcam for the better, and can turn an okay camera into a good one. Plus – it’ll make your stream look and feel more professional.

External microphone

Audio quality is even more important than video quality, because no one wants to watch a streamer that sounds like a toaster. Again, you don’t really need anything expensive, a USB mic is a great start. You only need to spend a little bit and it will make a world of difference, so don’t get discouraged if you’re not able to get the most expensive one – a high price doesn’t necessarily mean high quality.

Bonus: Macro pad

If you’re really taking things seriously, you’ll want to look into a macro pad. But as a beginner streamer, you probably don’t want to spend too much money on it. Luckily, you don’t really have to. You can just use Touch Portal on your phone. Just install the app on your PC and your phone and make sure they are connected. Ta-da! You basically have a stream deck on your phone.
