The best alternatives for Combo in 2024

With Combo seemingly no longer updating their tool, you may want to switch to another app or other software to create TikToks, YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels from your Twitch clips. Here is an overview of the best Combo alternatives in 2024.

The best way to grow your Twitch channel is by posting your clips to social media. Luckily, there are plenty of clip editors available, in various degrees of quality (and in different price ranges), that can make it easier to convert your horizontal Twitch clips into perfect, vertical videos for social media. Here is our list of Combo (or JoinCombo, as it’s also known) alternatives and how they score on features, price and performance in comparison to Combo.

Best online clip editor: StreamLadder

Okay, we admit that we’re biased. But when it comes to quick and simple editing of Twitch clips, YouTube clips and more, we do believe we have one of the best products on the market today. It is easy to use, has all the features you need to make perfect social media content from your streams, great performance and comes in various price ranges to accommodate every type of streamer. If you don’t agree, please join our Discord and let us know what we could do better.

Features

With StreamLadder’s free plan, you can convert an unlimited amount of videos in 720p / 60fps quickly and easily. You can choose from various templates, you don’t have to download anything and there will be no watermarks added to your completed video. You can upload videos from Twitch and YouTube or upload videos from your computer files. For an easy, side-by-side comparison between StreamLadder and Combo, we've put together an easy overview.

With an upgrade to a Silver or Gold subscription, you’ll get an even better and more complete experience. With Silver, you can render your videos in high quality (1080p / 60fps), add stickers, text and generate subtitles automatically, save your flow in a template, get access to the mobile site and post directly to TikTok and YouTube Shorts. With Gold, you get all of the benefits of Silver, plus fast rendering, rendering in the background and rendering multiple videos at once. You’ll also get access to our Scheduler tool to plan your clips for YouTube Shorts and TikTok in advance. Plus, you can connect multiple social media accounts and you’ll be able to join our referral program. Take a look at all of the different plans and features here

Price

The basic version is free, but you can unlock more features by upgrading to Silver for $6 a month* or Gold for $15 a month*. By choosing to pay annually instead of monthly, you can get a 20% discount on your subscription costs. It’s similar to JoinCombo’s pricing of $6 or $12 a month for its premium subscriptions.

How does StreamLadder compare to Combo?

In many ways, StreamLadder is similar to Combo. Just like Combo, it’s a clip editor where you can easily upload videos from Twitch and YouTube, choose from various templates and share them to TikTok, Reels, Shorts and Discord, without any forced watermarks. You do need to upgrade to StreamLadder Silver or Gold to unlock automatic captions, stickers and text. But, unlike Combo, where you can only upload and edit only 15 videos per month, there’s no limit on the amount of videos you can edit or upload on StreamLadder – even with the free plan. Most importantly, you can be sure that there is a dedicated team behind StreamLadder that will continue to update the tool to make sure it remains the best it can be, by adding new features and improving the existing ones.

Other alternatives

There are some other options available that might also be worth considering.

Twitch

Twitch now has its own, built-in clip editor, but… It’s pretty basic. You can cut the clip, choose from only two layouts, add your channel name and download it or post it to your socials – and that’s about it. But, if you’re not looking for anything too fancy, it might be good enough for you.

Advanced video-editors

On the other end of the spectrum, if you want to create content beyond Twitch and are looking for something a little more advanced, you could consider CapCut or DaVinci Resolve. These free video editing tools both have a ton of features and allow you for more complex edits, with Davinci Resolve being a more general video editing tool and CapCut being aimed at TikTok specifically. But that also means that it comes with a bit of a learning curve – it’s more difficult for the average person to use and will probably take more time to figure out. It might even slow you down if you’re just looking for a simple tool to help you convert your Twitch highlights into viral videos.

Cross Clip

Another option is Cross Clip, which is now part of StreamLabs, although the free version is pretty shabby. You can only edit three clips, it adds a watermark and an outro video and you can upload only up to 250MB. In terms of UI, it’s not that straightforward either. If you happen to already be a paid subscriber of StreamLabs Ultra, this might be worth considering, but otherwise, you’re better off using something else.

In short, there are lots of alternatives on the market for Combo. The one that’s most similar to JoinCombo, both in terms of features and pricing, is StreamLadder. And when it comes to creating clips for social media from your Twitch stream, StreamLadder just eclipses the competition. But if you’re looking for something either more basic or advanced, there are also plenty of options available.

Edit your Twitch streams and turn them into perfect videos for your social media channels on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Try StreamLadder for free today.
