The best alternatives for Cross Clip in 2024

Tired of Cross Clip's watermarks and outros? Explore top alternatives like StreamLadder for editing clips into perfect TikToks, Shorts, and Reels in 2024.

The best alternatives for Cross Clip in 2024

Tired of having watermarks (or worse even: outro videos) added to your clips when editing with Cross Clip? There are other options to convert your horizontal Twitch, YouTube or Kick clips into vertical content for TikTok, Shorts and Instagram Reels. Here's an in-depth look at noteworthy CrossClip alternatives in 2024.

Best: StreamLadder

You might be thinking: of course you would say this. But we truly believe we are the best option, can you imagine how low our self-esteem would be if we wouldn’t think that? We’re always working on making StreamLadder better than its competitors. So, if you want a snappy and straightforward way to edit your Twitch and YouTube clips, StreamLadder is the best choice. Let’s dive into why.

Features

First of all, StreamLadder is not adding any watermarks to your final video. You can edit an unlimited amount of clips, even with the free plan. You can upload videos from a variety of sources, including directly from Twitch, and there’s a number of templates to choose from.

For even more features, you can upgrade to a Silver or Gold membership. Silver unlocks a higher export quality (1080p / 60fps), the option to add stickers, text and automatic subtitles. Plus, you can save your workflow in a template, access the mobile site and post directly to TikTok and YouTube Shorts. Opt for Gold for all Silver benefits, plus fast rendering, background rendering and the ability to render multiple videos simultaneously. You’ll also gain access to our Scheduler tool to plan your clips for YouTube Shorts and TikTok in advance, plus you can connect multiple social media accounts and join our referral program for additional perks. Explore all the plans and features available here.

Price

StreamLadder is free, but you can access additional features by opting for the Silver subscription at $6 per month* or the Gold subscription at $15 per month*. Opting for an annual payment instead of monthly entitles you to a 20% discount on your subscription expenses. The basic version of Cross Clip is free as well, but if you want to get rid of watermarks, edit more than 100 mb of videos and not have a shitty outro video added to each video, you’ll have to upgrade to Cross Clip Pro for $4.99 per month. That still doesn’t unlock many features though, if you want to add subtitles or text, you’ll still have to use another app. If you’re already paying for StreamLabs Ultra, then it's included in your membership.

*Prices are subject to variation based on your location.

How does StreamLadder compare to CrossClip?

In many ways, StreamLadder is similar to Cross Clip. Just like Cross Clip, it's a clip editor allowing easy uploading of videos from Twitch and YouTube, selecting from various templates and sharing them on TikTok, Reels, Shorts and Discord. However, with CrossClip, you’re limited to editing only three clips, it slaps on a watermark and an outro video and your uploads are capped at 100MB. StreamLadder doesn’t add anything to the clip you don’t want, even with the free version, and you can edit an unlimited amount of videos.

If you're upgrading to a more premium subscription, pricing is similar for both apps, but the amount of bang you get for your buck wildly differs. For the paid version of Cross Clip, you don't unlock many more features. You mainly have to pay just to get rid of the annoying things (watermark and outro vid), whilst a paid StreamLadder subscription unlocks a heap of features, including stickers, text, subtitles, more layouts, the ability to add multiple social media accounts, better rendering, higher quality, the ability to plan posting clips in advance, and more.

Other options to explore

Listen, we are biased, but we don’t want to toot our own horn too much. There are additional alternatives that might catch your interest.

Twitch

Twitch now offers its own built-in clip editor, but it's still pretty basic. You can only choose from only two layouts, add your channel name, and either download it or share it on your socials – that's pretty much it. You can’t choose from a number of stickers or text styles and there’s no ability to add subtitles. However, if you're not after anything too fancy, it could suffice.

Advanced video editors

If you're aiming to create content beyond Twitch and need something more advanced, consider checking out CapCut or DaVinci Resolve. These free video editing tools pack a bunch of features, allowing for more intricate edits. DaVinci Resolve is a more general video editing tool, while CapCut is specifically designed for TikTok. Keep in mind that the advanced features come with a learning curve – they might be a bit challenging for the average user and could take some time to master. If you're simply looking for a straightforward tool to convert your Twitch highlights into viral videos, these might slow you down.

Combo

Unfortunately Combo (or JoinCombo, as it’s also known) is no longer updating its tool, so even though it used to be a decent alternative, we’re not recommending this as an option. Check out the side-by-side comparison between StreamLadder and Combo here.

In summary, there are plenty of alternatives for CrossClip. StreamLadder stands out as the closest match, aligning in features and pricing and outshining its competitors in terms of usability and output. However, if you're in the market for something simpler or more advanced, there are options to explore.

Edit your Twitch streams and turn them into perfect videos for your social media channels on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Try StreamLadder for free today.
