Twitch’s New Video Story Mode for Partners

Twitch now lets Partners add 60-second videos to stories, customize story expiration, and use new reaction emotes. Full rollout coming later this summer.

Twitch’s New Video Story Mode for Partners

📢 Exciting News for Twitch Partners! Twitch is rolling out an innovative feature that will transform how you share moments with your community. Starting the week of June 24, 2024, eligible Partners can dive into the Video for Stories feature. This addition marks a significant leap forward in Twitch’s storytelling capabilities, providing a richer and more dynamic way to engage with your followers. Here’s everything you need to know about this new feature and how it can elevate your Twitch experience.

🎬 Video for Stories: Bringing Stories to Life

Twitch is all about real-time interaction and vibrant community experiences, and the new video feature for stories aligns perfectly with this vision. Partners will have the chance to:

  • Upload or Capture Video: Add videos up to 60 seconds directly into your stories. Whether it’s a behind-the-scenes look at your stream setup, a quick update, or a shoutout, video stories offer a new way to connect.
  • Tell More with Motion: Sometimes, a still photo just doesn’t capture the essence of what you want to share. Videos can convey emotion, action, and context that static images can’t, making your stories more engaging and relatable.

🔔 Note: While you can upload and take videos, resizing and moving them within the story composer isn’t available yet. But don’t worry! Twitch is actively working on this functionality, aiming to roll it out before the full launch of video for all eligible creators later this summer.

⏰ Custom Story Expiration Settings: Tailor Your Content Lifespan

Every story has its moment, and now you can decide how long that moment lasts. With the new custom story expiration settings, you have the flexibility to choose when your stories disappear. Here’s how it works:

  • Choose Your Expiry: Select from 1, 12, 24, or 48 hours for each story.
  • Easy to Set: Just click the info icon in the top right corner while in create mode to pick your desired expiration time.

This feature is perfect for tailoring the visibility of your content based on its relevance and urgency, giving you control over your story’s lifecycle.

💬 Simplified Reactions: Engage with Your Viewers Effortlessly

Engagement is the heartbeat of Twitch, and the simplified reactions feature makes it even easier for viewers to interact with your stories. Here’s what’s new:

  • Quick Likes: Viewers can now tap the heart button to like your story instantly.
  • Enhanced Emotes: Long-pressing the heart button opens a range of emotes for more expressive reactions.

💡 Pro Tip: Use these reaction emotes to poll your audience or encourage interaction. For example, you can ask your viewers to choose between two game options or express their excitement for upcoming streams.

🚀 Coming Soon to All Eligible Streamers

While these features are currently in testing with Partners, they are set to become available to all eligible streamers soon. This gradual rollout ensures that Twitch can fine-tune the experience and address any issues before a wider release, promising a smooth and effective implementation for everyone.
