DonoWall

DonoWall Twitch / Discord emote

Meaning

DonoWall is used to express feelings of nervousness, anxiety, or cautious observation while staying hidden or protected. It represents the act of 'peeking' at something scary, uncomfortable, or anxiety-inducing from a safe distance. The brick wall symbolizes protection or a barrier between the viewer and whatever situation is being discussed. It's essentially a more protected or cautious version of the standard Monkas emote, suggesting the user wants to observe drama or tense situations while remaining safely hidden.

Origin

DonoWall is a custom emote that originated from the popular Twitch streamer Donowalls (formerly known as Dono). The emote features a variation of the Monkas meme (the nervous Pepe the Frog character) peeking from behind a brick wall. This emote became popular in Dono's community and spread to other channels through platforms like BetterTTV, FrankerFaceZ, and 7TV. The emote gained traction around 2018-2019 as part of the broader Pepe emote culture on Twitch.

When to use

The emote is commonly used when:
  • Watching drama unfold in chat without wanting to get involved directly
  • Observing a streamer about to do something risky or dangerous in a game
  • Reacting to uncomfortable or cringe moments while maintaining emotional distance
  • When chat is getting heated and you want to watch but not participate
  • During scary or tense moments in horror games or intense gameplay
  • When controversial topics arise and viewers want to observe the discussion from safety
