WeebsOut

WeebsOut Twitch / Discord emote

Meaning

The "WeebsOut" emote is a reactionary emote used on Twitch to express mock disapproval or playful annoyance toward anime or Japanese pop-culture content appearing in chat. The emote typically shows a person (as seen in the image) gesturing toward a door, symbolically asking anime fans (often called "weebs") to leave the chat.

This emote functions as a humorous counterpoint to anime-positive emotes like AYAYA, and is often spammed when chat begins to fill with anime references or discussions. It represents the playful rivalry between anime enthusiasts and those who jokingly oppose them in Twitch culture.

Origin

The "WeebsOut" emote originated from the broader "NaM" emote culture that began on BetterTTV (BTTV) around 2015. The NaM emote, featuring the face of streamer "nam______________________" (also known as Namja), evolved to represent anti-anime sentiment in Twitch chats.

The specific "WeebsOut" concept gained significant popularity through streamers like Nymn, where viewers would spam phrases like "SHUTTHEFUCKUPWEEBS" and "WEEBSGETTHEFUCKOUT" alongside the NaM emote. The emote's iconic form was solidified after a memorable moment from streamer pajlada, who dramatically opened a door and declared "Weebs, out!" when noticing anime discussions in his chat.

Following this incident, the emote spread across various emote platforms including 7TV, BTTV, and FrankerFaceZ (FFZ), with different versions showing someone pointing or gesturing toward a door, symbolizing the phrase "Weebs out!"

When to use

The WeebsOut emote is commonly used in these specific contexts:

  • When anime-related emotes like AYAYA start appearing in chat
  • During discussions about Japanese culture, anime, or manga in a stream
  • When a streamer begins watching or discussing anime content
  • As a response to viewers using Japanese phrases or words in chat
  • During playful "wars" between self-identified weebs and anti-weebs in chat
  • When a streamer plays Japanese music or games with anime-style graphics

The emote is almost always used in a lighthearted, joking manner rather than expressing genuine hostility, representing the playful banter that characterizes much of Twitch culture.
